This is not a place to rant about how (your least favorite edition) sucks! In fact, I hope discussion arises about how later editions do things right, and how to incorporate them into OSR-styled games. Other Old School games (Traveller, Runequest, Tunnels & Trolls, et al) are of course open for discussion.
It will primarily focus on D&D (LBB, 1st ed. This is a subreddit for news and discussion of Old School Renaissance topics.
↳ Padruig's PbP Game - And Then Things Went South. ↳ Padruig's PbP game - Coronapocalypse Now. I delight in the original ruleset because by the book luck as much as anything determines what you will get but unfortunately my players are not of a like mind so I usually have to be flexible in the kinds of characters they play (which means yet ANOTHER party consisting of a halfling thief, dwarven fighter/cleric, and elven magic-user.at least they build a balanced team!) I paid $35 for my copy a couple of years ago.īasic Fantasy is a cool, but not quite the same, version of the original ruleset. Lurk on Amazon and eBay and sometimes you can get a good deal. It's actually one of the best D&D sourcebooks ever published IMO (but I've long disliked that AD&D split its core rules into three books) and is worth owning a physical copy if you play regularly, despite the cost. RC is a fairly indispensable book if you plan to run in Known World though as huge amounts of text are dedicated to the setting. Ofc the books are easy enough to find elsewise via Google.Īnywho, Dark Dungeons is pretty good and has all the rules you might need. Wizards has been selling PDFs of some old TSR supplements at (partner w/DriveThruRPG).
